Hello, my name is Derek
Staha. I have been involved in the R/C hobby since 1988. My interest in the
hobby actually began before that while I was in high school (mid 80's). I
lived in a rural area where there were no hobby stores or flying fields
near. I did everything by mail order and learned to fly on the land my
father owned. Needless-to-say, I crashed a couple of times and was very
discouraged. In college (1988) I was fortunate to be near an excellent
flying club. Although I had flown a little back home, it was here I really
learned to fly. My first plane was an Eagle 63 with a Royal 40 and a
gold-faced Futaba radio (remember those?). Since then I have built
approximately 40 kits and 5 from plans. Although I have tried pylon racing,
ducted fans, boats, cars, scale (the list goes on).....I just really enjoy
sport flying on the weekends.
One of my favorite planes was a Tsunami I bought several years ago. I loved
that plane! I sold all my "small" stuff shortly after, thinking I would get
into the big birds. Well, this never really happened so I needed to re-aquire
some smaller planes. I looked around for the Tsunami and discovered it was
no longer made. I contacted the original owners and "convinced" them to sell
the design to me, along with the F/A - 18 Hornet. With that, Juno R/C was
born! We are located in Houston, TX.
I am proud and excited to bring this sport aircraft, and the Hornet, back to
the modeling enthusiasts. I will be adding other models and accessories in
the coming months. Let me know if there is anything I can do for you or if
there is a product you'd like to see.
Thanks again, and I hope you enjoy your products from Juno R/C! (o.k. no
jokes about the hair.....I'm just glad I still have it)
